So, to wrap up what I was saying about our Ibaadah, we need to do ourselves a favor by checking to make sure it’s correct.
Firstly, we should check why we’re doing it. We must ask is it our of us humbling ourselves before Allah and submitting to His will and out of obedience. If we recognize that we’re doing it for other than this. For instance, out of habit, compulsion or embarrassment for not doing it, then we need to work on getting our intentions correct.
Secondly, we need to make sure that what we are doing is something that was legislated in Islam. We have to make sure that it is not just something that someone before us came up with, thinking it was good and got passed down from generation to generation. We have to make sure that it comes directly from the Qur’an and the Sunnah, or at the very least has been extracted from it. This is because as we mentioned earlier, that we are only allowed to worship Allah by way of that which was legislated.
