Understanding Tawheed (part 34)

bismillah

Now that we have discussed the definition of worship and how it should be performed, we want to talk about where we get our different forms of worship from originally.

This issue is very important especially in our days and times. When we look around in many of our communities, we find that people have begun doing what they want and when they want in any way they want. This is incorrect. Ibaadah (worship) is that which the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) taught us to perform. We do it in times in which it is legislated and in the way in which it was taught.

We can not say that we see good in something, so we begin to call it worship. Rather, we must understand  that it is not correct that we worship Allah except by sticking to that which was legislated, or at least derived from that which was legislated.
