Introduction
We find ourselves as Muslims, doing a lot of talking about this “Sirat ul Mustaqeem” (the straight path). At least 17 times a day we ask Allah to guide us to it in our daily prayers. We call ourselves calling to it, and telling people to stay away from anything that opposes it. There is a question that each and every one of us needs to ask ourselves. Many of us will be surprised as to the reality of the answer that we will initially give to this question, once the conversation is over. What is this Question? It is – “What exactly is the Straight Path that we are supposed to be busying ourselves with during the course of our lives?”
Do not be surprised if you find it hard to explain, even to yourself. This is because, even as long as some of us have been Muslim, no one has taken the time to explain this to us. It has become another one of these terminologies that we were given without much explanation as to its exact meaning. This is what we will be dealing with in this series.
