The Last Three Surahs of the Qur’an: Your Powerful Protection

Today, we’re diving into the significance of the last three Surahs of the Qur’an and how they offer incredible protection against envy, the evil eye, magic, and jinn. Understanding these Surahs and their proper recitation can be a game-changer in your spiritual practice.

The Strength of the Last Three Surahs

The last three Surahs of the Qur’an—Surah Al-Ikhlas, Surah Al-Falaq, and Surah Al-Nas—are incredibly powerful. They are recommended for protection and healing. It is Sunnah, or recommended practice, to recite these Surahs three times in the morning and evening, three times before going to sleep, once after every Salah (prayer), and when feeling unwell.

Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullah) emphasized their importance by saying that these Surahs are crucial in repelling harm from magic, the evil eye, and other negative forces. He even mentioned that the need to seek Allah’s protection through these Surahs is more essential than daily necessities like food and clothing.

Hadith and the Practice of the Prophet ﷺ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ placed great importance on these Surahs. Aisha (radiyallahu anha) reported that whenever the Prophet ﷺ fell ill, he would recite the last three Surahs and then blow over his body. In his final illness, she recited these Surahs and blew over him using his own hands for their blessings (Bukhari).

Moreover, the Prophet ﷺ would use these Surahs to seek protection for his family members whenever they were unwell (Muslim). This practice highlights their effectiveness and the Prophet’s ﷺ reliance on them.

Best Protection Against Harm

Surah Al-Falaq and Surah Al-Nas are particularly noted for their protective qualities. Anas (radiyallahu anhu) narrated that before the revelation of these two Surahs, the Prophet ﷺ used to seek refuge from harm using other means. Once these Surahs were revealed, he adopted them as his primary protection (Tirmidhi).

The Prophet ﷺ also affirmed their unmatched efficacy, stating that there is no better protection than what these Surahs offer (Abu Dawood). Uqbah (radiyallahu anhu) relayed that the Prophet ﷺ recommended Surah Al-Falaq and Surah Al-Nas as the best words to seek Allah’s protection (Ahmad).

Recitation in Daily Life

Incorporating these Surahs into your daily routine can bring immense benefits. The Prophet ﷺ advised reciting Surah Al-Ikhlas, Surah Al-Falaq, and Surah Al-Nas three times each in the morning and evening for comprehensive protection (Tirmidhi). This practice ensures that you start and end your day under Allah’s safeguard.

Before sleeping, the Prophet ﷺ would hold his hands together, blow into them after reciting these Surahs, and then wipe his body, starting with his head, face, and front. He did this three times each night as a protective measure (Bukhari).

Conclusion

Integrating the recitation of these last three Surahs into your daily life can provide powerful protection and peace of mind. Their significance in Islamic tradition and their endorsed practices by the Prophet ﷺ make them an essential part of a believer’s routine. Make them a part of your spiritual toolkit and experience their benefits firsthand!
