The second of these major benefits that I would like to mention is the issue of the fact that we are told that the gates of the hell-fire are closed during the month of Ramadan. According to some of the people of knowledge, this is largely due to the small amount of disobedience that happens during this month. As you see, many people during this month are on their best behavior. They are doing better than normally in trying to refrain from acts of disobedience to Allah, or at least cutting down on the ones with which they normally involve themselves
We all do this seeking Allah’s pleasure and hoping to be removed from His punishment. The reward that one sets themselves up for by disobeying Allah is known. Look at what Allah says in these verses;
{Then, for him who Tagha (transgressed all bounds, in disbelief, oppression and evil deeds of disobedience to Allah).(37) And preferred the life of this world (by following his evil desires and lusts), (38) Verily, his abode will be Hell-fire; (38)}
[An Naaziat (79):37-39]
May Allah protect us all from this… Allahuma ameen.
So we see that by us having a whole month in which we are abstaining from these things, Allah has set us in a good position, and aided us against ourselves and our evils, so that we stay away from His punishment.
