In the last post, I talked about spending time with the book of Allah on a daily basis. In this post I would like to stay on the same topic, but from a slightly different angle. This discussion is extremely important, so make sure that you pay close attention. As well, you will want to make sure to discuss this a part of the discussion specifically, with your friends and loved ones.
This is the situation of reading the Quran in a language that you understand. It is extremely important that you do this, so that you can gain an understanding of what is being said to you. This book contains true and necessary guidance for everyone in creation. It is imperative that we work hard to try to understand what Allah wants from us and has required us to adhere to in our lives. How is it possible that this is done, except that we read its translation in a language that we understand? Aren’t some of the main purposes of our reading of the Quran to understand it, ponder upon its meanings and implement it? How can we do this if we only read it in a language which we do not understand to begin with?
I am not in any way discouraging anyone to read the Quran in the Arabic Language. As there is an abundance of reward and benefit for those that read it in its original language. The reward for each letter is greater than most of us can imagine. So for those of you that can do so, should continue doing so as much as possible.
This post is for those that either can not read Arabic, or can read it and not understand it. We need to understand that the Quran is not just to be recited, but to be understood and implemented as well. If we can not do this except by a translation of the Quran, than it is imperative that we do this in the language that we understand. We should not listen to those that tell us that we can only read it in its original language, and can not be understood in a different language. This is the whole reason for have a good translation. We will obviously not get the whole meaning, as we would get if we understood the Arabic language, but gaining some understanding is better than getting nothing. Don’t you agree?
