Yet another issue that needs to be discussed is that of the importance of each and every one of us increasing in our reading and pondering over the book of Allah. This is something which is important all year around, and it’s even more important that we do it during this blessed month. Unfortunately, there are many of us that rarely ever open the book of Allah. Some may even go a week or two without even looking at one of the pages, or maybe even longer.
Well, if this is our situation, then we need to make sure to use this month as an opportunity to change this evil habit of ours. Just as we make sure to set out time to feed ourselves, and time for us to sleep every night, we should be setting out some time to read the Quran daily. Do not give yourself a chance to rationalize not picking up this Book on a daily basis. I am not telling you that you have to spend even a whole hour, or even a half an hour. A simple five, ten or fifteen minutes a day will help you in developing a steady habit, in terms spending time with Allah’s speech daily. If you can find a daily regimen, then you can make a fixed part of your day regardless of how long it may be, you will on your way to really making the Quran an fixed part of your everyday life.
I am bringing this up due to the importance of the Quran in the life of a Muslim. There is no reason why we should feel comfortable having days go by, and us not picking it up and getting some benefit from it. Until it becomes that which runs our lives, we can not truly expect success in either this life or the next. As well, we need to realize that it will not be that thing that governs the way we live our lives until we begin to read it and get to know what has been sent down to us as guidance. Don’t you agree?
