Question:
- If someone masturbates while fasting does it break their fast? Does it make obligatory on them the kafarah (prescribed expiation)?
Answer:
- If a person does this and ejaculates then their fast is broken. It is obligatory for them to make up that day. There is, though, no kafarah that he must carry out. This is because it is not obligatory except for by penetration in sexual intercourse. Also, he must repent to Allah for what he has done.
