عن أنس بن مالك رضي الله عنه قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم
” يَسِّروا ولا تُعَسِّروا وبَشِّروا ولا تنَفّروا ”
Ibn ‘Abbas narrated, the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Make things easy and do not make them complicated. Give glad tidings and do not be repulsive.”
Explanation of the Hadeeth
The teachings of Islam have been based off of ease and removing hardships. This is why the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) has commanded us with being easy in all of our affairs and leaving off going to the extremes and making things hard on ourselves.
Whoever is not able to use water to purify himself, makes tayyamum and he prays. Whom ever is sick, and fasting is causing him problems, then he is to break his fast and make up that day. Whoever has money with someone else that is having a hard time paying the debt then they are to be easy with them in requesting their money, or either to just not ask for it until a time in which they are able to pay it back.
As well, the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) has commanded us to be of those that bring glad tidings. With this, he commanded us to stay away from chasing people away. This is because giving glad tidings helps to open the peoples chests and hearts, and makes the soul feel comfortable. Where as, being harsh makes a person feel nervous and uncomfortable.
So if you meet someone that just took a test, give him glad tidings of success or that he passed. If you meet someone that is doing trade or business, then give them glad tidings of profit. If your friend tells you that he just got married, then give them glad tidings of a happy life and good offspring. If you meet someone that is being disobedient to Allah, then cover their faults and explain to them the importance of repentance and being obedient to Allah. You should remind them about all the good that Allah has prepared for those that are obedient to Him. This is because that which usually follows this giving of glad tidings is people being more serious about Allah’s obedience, and the increase of righteous actions.
The Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessing be upon him) was the greatest example of sticking to giving glad tidings and not making things hard on the people. He used to forbid the people from making things hard on the people and going to the extremes with things when it came to the religion. This is the way we need to be as well with the people.
That which is benefited from the hadeeth
- When it comes to this beautiful religion, we need to stick to being easy and not going to the extremes and making things hard on the people.
- That when the people meet, they should work hard to bring ease and happiness to each other.
