It dawned on me that there is something very important that we need to discuss before jumping too far into the topic at hand. This topic being the issue of the difference between loving Allah and being loved by Allah.
The way that many of us brag about loving Allah on a regular basis, one would think that this is the actual goal. One would think that once they have obtained this love for Him, that they have arrived. We need to understand though that the thing that is most important and the real goal is gaining the love of Allah.
Yes, our loving Allah is very very important. As a matter of fact, it is a huge reason for the slave to gain the love of Allah. Thus, we must remember not to allow ourselves to be distracted by anything from the true goal.
