We must think about the fact that the best of creation, the Prophet Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) was an excellent example in all ways on how we should be in our lives. His character was impeccable, and there hasn’t been anyone exactly like him since. He carried himself in such a way that Allah praised him due to his character and mannerisms. Look at the statement of Allah in the Quran when He said {And indeed, you are of a great moral character} [68:(4)].
As we stated a minute ago, the Prophet was an excellent example for us in our lives. Some of you may have read the verse that we mentioned above, and it didn’t really touch them at all. I want you to think for a second. Allah mentioned in His book, about the character of His Messenger (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him). This is not just because it sounded good in this place in His book. It was not just due to wanting to say something. Allah is free from these things. Rather we know that He mentioned this here in this verse, due to its great importance in the life of a Muslim. Allah showed us in this verse that good character is something that is praiseworthy, and that it comes in levels. He pointed out for us an example that we should be striving hard to emulate.
Yet unfortunately you find in many of our societies, due to various reasons, we are trying to be like other than the best of examples. As a matter of fact, many want to be like those in front of us that are the exact opposite. We have been tricked into thinking that foolishness and foolery is actually that which is praiseworthy and acceptable. At the same time, we think that those characteristics that were praised by Allah, are weak and undesirable. We really need to sit down and rethink what we want and from where we get it. This is because we are all Muslims, and having good character, mannerisms and morals is very important. It is something that we can no longer afford to ignore. We have to return to doing our best to be like the best of creation in all aspects of our lives, especially in the way we carry ourselves.
