Good Mannerisms (Part 16)

As a matter of fact, to build on what was discussed in the last post, we know that it was from the Sunnah of the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) to smile in the faces of his companions and those that he met.  There are many different narration about this, such as the famous one narrated by both Imam al Bukhari as well as Imam Muslim, where Jareer bin Abdullah reported that, ”The Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) never met me, and never saw me except that he smiled in my face.”

Therefore, we see that this was not just something that he used to call the people to doing, but it was a practice that he took serious and acted on in his everyday interactions. This was because he was the best of examples for anyone that was trying to gain Allah’s pleasure, forgiveness  and reward. This is why we need to do all that we can to follow his way, as he was sent as a way to show us how to be successful in both this life and the hereafter. There are many different types of worship that some may believe to be difficult, time consuming or even costly. This one though is none of those. So, we all have no excuse for not after reading this, making it a part of our everyday lives as well.

We all claim to be trying to hold onto his way and do as he did, then why do we find it so hard to practice this in our everyday lives? We really need to evaluate that which we do, and make sure that it matches that which we are claiming. Don’t you agree?
