From good mannerisms is to smile in the face of your brothers and sisters. Subhanna Allah. Is this what we see from our brothers and sisters? It has become the thing to look “hard” and not smile when meeting and greeting one another. How can we let a culture that is in clear opposition to that which was sent down in revelation overrule that which was important to our beloved Messenger (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)?
Look at what the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said about simply smiling in the face of the believers. He said, “Your smile in the face of your brother is sadaqah (charity).” Do you not see how the Prophet used to push the people to taking on this beautiful characteristic? He informed us of the fact that it is considered charity. This is something that everyone of us chases after, due to the reward that comes from it in the here after. He pointed out in this narration that this action will help you to make your scales heavy even if you have nothing to give, very easily and will cost you nothing.
