Now we need to take a look at the situation of the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) and how he used to make all kinds of supplication to Allah for the best of mannerisms and character. I just mentioned on in the last post, and I wanted to mention another one today to make it even more clear. What we need to do is to notice how the issue was not just something that was a given with the Messenger (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) rather it was something that he used to ask for from Allah, as he realized that good mannerisms and character is from the creation of Allah that He writes it for whomever he pleases.
Imam Muslim has reported in his Sahih the narration where the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) used to make a supplication which testifies that this was something that was so important for him to be blessed with, he would ask for it to be bestowed upon him. If we recognize the fact that he was the best of creation and had the best character of anyone, we should see the need for us learning this supplication and making it regularly.
The narration states that the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated, “Oh Allah, guide me to the best of character, no one guides to the best of character except you. And turn away from me the worst of it, no one turns away the worst of it except you.” Again, if this was a supplication came from the tongue of the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him), then you have to know that it is a must that you memorize it now, use it and teach it to your families and other loved ones.
