Truth in belief is another characteristic that needs to be developed in every Muslim. We need to develop it in ourselves, as well as insist that it be an attribute of anyone that we take as a close friend or companion. May Allah aide us all in this… Allahuma ameen.
What is meant by “Truth In Belief”? That which is being referred to is not allowing the belief that we claim to have, to be contradicted by our statements and actions. I am sure that you are all familiar with that old saying, “Saying one thing and doing something else”. This is an attribute that no Muslim should every be happy to be described with having.
So now when we talk about looking into the types of people that we have taken as companions and friends, what do we see? Do we see that we have fulfilled this command of choosing those that are truthful in this manner? Are most of those that we are around regularly those that are known to be of those that claim a belief in one thing, but many of their actions and statements tell us other than this?
If this is the case, it is time for us to decide to either do as we have been commanded by our Lord, and be around a different type of people until those that we hold dear change their ways, or not take heed to the command. This is the reality of the situation. We need to stop thinking that our worship is only prayer, fasting, hajj, etc. Rather, we need to understand that our worship comes in every type of obedience, as well as refraining from all types of disobedience.
May Allah make us of those that try to adhere to His commands… Allahuma ameen.
