Sheikh bin Baaz was asked about sitting with those that are persistent in being disobedient to Allah. He replied;
This type of person, it is not at all recommended that anyone sit with them. This is because of their being persistent in their disobedience and the fact that they do not hide it. They can not use as a proof the statement of Allah {Verily! Allah forgives not (the sin of) setting up partners in worship with Him, but He forgives whom he pleases sins other than that, and whoever sets up partners in worship with Allah, has indeed strayed far away.} [4:116]. Therefore it is not for the slave to set out to do a sin trying to use this to cosign the fact that it is acceptable. This is because it is possible that he could be from those people that Allah does not want forgiveness for them. It is possible that his punishment for it is having his chance for forgiveness removed. All of this because of his determination to do wrong, his being light on being disobedient, the disobedience itself in terms of that which Allah has commanded them with when He commanded them with leaving off disobedience and performing their obligations.
It is upon the Muslim to advise his brother that he sees doing wrong, even if you know that they are already aware that it is a sin. This is because of the statement of Allah { Help you one another in Al-Birr and At-Taqwa (virtue, righteousness and piety); but do not help one another in sin and transgression.}[5:2]. We also find it in His statement {The believers, men and women, are Auliya’ (helpers, supporters, friends, protectors) of one another, they enjoin (on the people) Al-Ma’ruf (i.e. Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam orders one to do), and forbid (people) from Al-Munkar (i.e. polytheism and disbelief of all kinds, and all that Islam has forbidden)}[9:71]. The statement of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و سلم) “Religion is advise”. It was said: “To whom?” He said: “To Allah and His Book, and His messenger, and to the leaders of the Muslims and their common folk”. There also is the His statement, “Whosoever of you sees an evil action, let him change it with his hand; and if he is not able to do so, then with his tongue; and if he is not able to do so, then with his heart; and that is the weakest of faith.” This hadeeth is narrated by Imam Muslim in his saheeh.
With Allah is the success.
