At – Tawheed and the Obligation of Thankfulness

At – Tawheed and the Obligation of Thankfulness

All the praise is for Allah, the one whom is known by his signs and attributes. The one whom is thanked for all that He gives and bestows upon His slaves. He is singled out in terms of His Lordship, being the creator and His organizing of the affairs of the creation. He is singled out in terms of His being complete, so there is nothing that is called on besides Him. Also, He is singled out in his worship, so he is the best of Overseers and the best of helpers. He is the one who is worshiped and has the right to have limitless love and completed humility and exalting. For him is the utmost amount of respect, honor and glorification. We don’t have anything we place our hope in or call on beside Him. We do not turn to anything besides Him for all of our needs.

We bare witness that nothing has the right to be worshiped other than Him alone and he has no partners, so Him alone we worship and Him alone we turn to for aide.

We bare witness that Muhammad is His slave and messenger whom was aided by the clear truth.

Oh Allah send prayers on Muhammad on his family and his companions all together and those that follow them until the Day of Judgment.

As to that which follows:

Oh mankind! Worship your Lord and fear Him. Know that the fundamental aspect of that is that you be sincere in doing that which you do for His sake and single Him out in His worship. And that you believe from the depths of your hearts that Allah is the only one that possesses the right to be worshiped over all of His creation. So single him out in all the different types of worship and make all of that which He legislated sincerely and entirely for Him.

So turn to you Lord with your hearts out of love, fear and hope. Do not put your hope in other than Him and do not call on other than Him, and don’t turn to anyone from the creation, because they can’t help you at all. They can not save you from Allah’s punishment. So just as he is singled out in terms of Him creating you and providing for you and organizing all of your affairs, the he should be the one you worship, turn to and call upon for everything no matter how small or big. All of creation is in need of Allah. They do not hold any benefit for themselves nor harm, nor are they in control of death or life or Resurrection.

Verily Allah is rich. He pours His blessings upon all of His creation. The happy individual is the one that turns to Allah in all his wants and desires. And the miserable on is the one that turns away from Allah and instead ties is heart to Allah’s creation.

How many times has He blessed you in both big and small ways and poured upon you his virtues and good? And caused your parents to feel compassion or sympathy for you? And submerged you in his grace and saved you from distress? And forgives you by wiping your slates clean and making you rich? And gives you all that you have asked for and desired? And you turned around and disobeyed Him time after time and He hid it so as that others did not find out and if He willed He could have humiliated you because of it? And all the times that there was reasons to punish you, but instead he saved you from the punishment?

So how much good has he shown you that can not be counted? And how many times has He saved you from evil and harm?

His good is constantly being poured on you. Your evil is constantly being raised up by Him. He shows love to you by giving you blessings even though he is not in need of you. And you constantly go against Him n way of disobedience even though you are in complete need of Him.

Oh mankind! Whom ever turns to Allah, He comes to meet them from afar. Who ever leaves off something for his sake, He gives him much more than that which was left off. Who ever goes to Him for their needs and puts their trust in Him, he gives them all they desire. Who ever fears Him, He makes a way out for him from all the problems and provides for him in ways that he could not imagine. He is Al Walee, Al Hameed.

Answer your lord and turn to Him in repentance. Submit to Him and return to Him. It is forbidden that you should use that which he blesses you with to disobey Him and to be persistent in being disobedient to Him.

May Allah aide me and you in remembering Him, being grateful to Him and perfecting His worship. May He make us successful in being sincere, following the correct path, advising His slaves and being serious in His worship.

Allah says,

O mankind! Worship your Lord (Allah), Who created you and those who were before you so that you may become Al-Muttaqun (the pious – see V.2:2). (Al-Baqarah 2:21)

May Allah reward me and you all by way of the Qur’an.
