“Making sure that your family is correct Islamically, if the phrase is correct, is your contribution to correcting the situation of the Muslim Ummah. Your household is your part of the world. It is the place that you can control for the most part. You decide what comes in, what goes out, what rules are followed, etc. It is important that we do our best to make sure that people that live under our roofs are at least trying to adhere to that which was revealed to mankind as a guide to success in this life and the next. You’re right,, there is no compulsion in Islam, but we can try our best to direct the people to that which is correct. As a matter of fact we have the responsibility of doing so when ever possible. We can not just sit back and turn a blind eye to everything that is wrong, and expect that our family unit will turn out well and really be productive. And as we said yesterday, if the individual households fall apart Islamically, how can not expect this to have a ripple effect on those other families around us in our communities?”
